Title: Care workers : matching supply and demand : Employment issues in the care of children and older people living at home :
Conference report ; Sheffield Hallam University 20-21 June 2002
Abstract
This conference at Sheffield Halham University addressed some critical issues relating to how the supply of care workers - both those involved in childcare and those who provide domiciliary care for older people living in their own homes - can be stimulated to match the growing demand for their caring labour. The conference heard contributions from leading experts in the field, drawn from employers, trade unions, policymakers and academics, representing seven different European countries. Title: Use of childcare in the EU Member States and progress towards the Barcelona targets
Abstract
This report provides a current analysis of Member States’ progress towards meeting the ‘Barcelona targets’. It initially examines the progress towards reaching the Barcelona targets by comparing and then extending the results presented in 2008. However, it also extends the previous 2008 analysis in a number of ways, namely it examines: the impact of parenthood on employment, public spending on childcare and the cost, affordability and quality of childcare. The report also summarises the extent to which the Barcelona targets have been met by Member States by the agreed deadline of 2010. Where possible, data were examined for 27 EU Member States and where available, EFTA countries Norway and Iceland. This short statistical report is part of a series of reports on gender equality in the work force and reconciliation of work, family and private life. These reports have been commissioned by the Justice Directorate General of the European Commission. The study was jointly undertaken by RAND Europe and the University of Groningen. These reports should be of interest to policymakers and academics with an interest in improving gender equality in the work force and improving the compatibility of having a career in combination with a family and private life. Title: Member states' approaches to unaccompanied minors following status determination : Czech Republic ; EMN Study 2017
Abstract
The overall aim of the Study is to inform the EMN’s target audiences (e.g. practitioners, policy officers and decision-makers at both EU and national level including academic researchers and the general public) on Member states’ approaches to unaccompanied minors following a final decision on their asylum/other status application. Thus, the Study will not examine the specific status determination procedure for unaccompanied minors but rather what happens with unaccompanied minors after its completion, which, in principle, either consists of the protection status and hence a right to residence being granted, followed by integration into the new host society, or the (asylum) application being rejected, followed by the unaccompanied minors being obligated to return. In relation to the latter, the Study will also cover instances when an unaccompanied minor is ordered to leave the territory but the return decision is not or cannot be enforced. Statuses such as temporary and tolerated stay, those available to child victims of trafficking, as well as the situation of unaccompanied minors who disappear following a decision on status shall be included as well.[Author vide copyright]
