Title: Ethnic entrepreneurship - Case study : Copenhagen, Denmark
Abstract
In 2006, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, the city of Stuttgart and Eurofound formed the ‘European network of cities for local integration policies' (CLIP). This fourth and final module of the CLIP project looks at ethnic entrepreneurship. The general aim of this module is to explore the development of ethnic entrepreneurship and to review the role of policy interventions in that process. It is motivated by the desire of municipal, national and European governments as well as third sector institutions, who want to create an environment that is conducive to setting up and developing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in general and ethnic businesses in particular. This case study was carried out in Copenhagen. [Eurofound]

Title: The role of women in the fisheries sector : tender fish/2000/01-lot no 1 ; final report
Abstract
• Employment data, including gender differentials, for each main discrete occupation within the fisheries sector i.e.: fishing, aquaculture, marketing & distribution, processing, administration & management and informal (especially unpaid spouses support). • Legal and social status; women’s legal position concerning involvement in the sector, and problems inherent in this. • Organisational, concerning how women are organised within the industry (e.g. unions), what formal support systems there are (e.g. childcare) and how education serves women in the sector. • Socio-cultural constraints, resolved into three aspects – external social factors that effect women’s decisions, the social status (thus desirability) of fisheries occupations and “internal” psychological factors related to women’s interests, aspirations and concerns. • Economic, mainly concerned with the respective earnings for various fisheries occupations, and particularly with gender related earnings discounts and economic alternatives. Title: Work organisation and innovation - Case study : Radiometer, Denmark
Abstract
Radiometer is a multinational company that produces medico-technical products and services for hospitals. The company’s vision is to build a team and a reputation for Radiometer’s products and services that result in extraordinary loyalty from associates, customers and, not least, shareholders. The innovation described in this case study – the introduction of the DBS/Lean strategy – is critical to achieving these business goals. The Danaher Business System (DBS) is based on the principles and tools developed within the Lean system and philosophy. DBS tools are 80% Lean. The underpinning principles of the Lean system are to eliminate waste in all its aspects, including waste materials, time wasted, too much stock or inventory, wasted efforts, etc., and to produce up to an agreed quality and productivity level defined by the management at minimum cost. Minimum cost means maximising the use of limited resources (staff, time, space, materials, and money).[Steen Høyrup, Kirsten Møller]

Title: Restructuring in SMEs : Denmark
Abstract
Based on information derived from 85 case studies across all EU Member States and other sources, the project outlines the features peculiar to SMEs in their anticipation and management of restructuring, explores the main drivers of change and analyses the factors influencing successful restructuring. It offers some insight into how restructuring impacts on workers and the company itself and sets out several policy pointers for future action. This is the country report for Denmark.[Eurofound]

Title: National practices of information and consultation in Europe
Abstract
The aims of this project are to explore recent experiences in the practice of information and consultation (I&C) at national level, building on the findings of the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO) 2011 report entitled Information and consultation practice across Europe five years after the EU Directive (Directive 2002/14/EC). The research analysed the effects of the I&C Directive both on national I&C practice – specifically on employees, trade unions and employers’ associations, and companies (in particular, HR managers) – and on national systems of industrial relations. It also explored whether national practices ensure the adequate, effective and timely information and consultation of employees in the interests of both employers and employees. An executive summary is also available.[ Jimmy Donaghey, Mark Carley, John Purcell, Mark Hall]

Title: Support for Farmers' Cooperatives : Country Report - Denmark
Abstract
The imbalances in bargaining power between the contracting parties in the food supply chain have drawn much attention, also from policy makers. The European Commission is committed to facilitate the restructuring of the sector by encouraging the creation of voluntary agricultural producer organisations. DG Agriculture and Rural Development has launched a large study, “Support for Farmers' Cooperatives”, that will provide the background knowledge that will help farmers organise themselves in cooperatives as a tool to consolidate their market orientation and so generate a solid market income. In the framework of this study, this report provides the relevant knowledge from Denmark.
