Title: Structures of Education, Vocational Training and Adult Education Systems in Europe : Estonia ; 2003
Abstract
Structures of education, vocational training and adult education systems in Europe For anyone trying to understand the general organisation of education systems in Europe, these monographs set out in some 40 pages for each country, full basic and regularly updated information on its own particular system. Devised in accordance with a common framework, they provide conveniently for inter-country comparison. The monographs describe the various levels of education from pre-primary to higher education, and initial vocational training whether provided exclusively in a school or other educational institution, or in the form of alternated work and training. Each level of education has its own concise description concerned primarily with its admissions procedures, duration, curriculum, methods of assessment and teacher training. These monographs have been produced by EURYDICE in close collaboration with the members of the CEDEFOP REFER Network and the national observatories of the European Training Foundation. [Urheber s. Title: Sustainability of the Estonian macroeconomic performance in the light of the EU membership
Abstract
For the new member states of the EU, the question of choosing the optimal macroeconomic policy mix is rather complicated as these countries are all in the dynamic movement towards joining the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). This implies a considerable change in macroeconomic policy environment. Many of the countries have to change their macroeconomic framework in order to meet the strict criteria set in the Maastricht Treaty and the accompanying legislative acts. Although currency board arrangements and sound government finances have helped to stabilise the Estonian economy during the transition, the aim of the current paper is to evaluate the sustainability of the Estonian macroeconomic policy in the light of the future developments, especially participation in the EMU. The analysis is based on the comparative performance of Estonia with the EU-15 and the former accession countries. It gives an overview of the nominal convergence according to the rules laid down by EC Treaty on EMU convergence criteria. In the context of real convergence the set of criteria provided by the theory of Optimum Currency Areas are analysed, as these are expected to be fulfilled in order to guarantee sustainability and success of the region participating in the monetary union. The paper highlights the dilemmas to be faced between the nominal criteria and real expected performance of the acceding country using the example of Estonia. [Urheber s. Copyright]

Title: The impact of the new financial services framework : Main report, country reports (part I-III)
Abstract
This study has considered the impact that the Financial Services Action Plan and the legislative measures of the Financial Services White Paper have already had and should be expected to have in the future. These impacts are considered for the European Union as a whole and for each of the twenty-five individual Member States. This study has been conducted at an early stage, with a number of important FSAP measures not yet implemented and most of the measures proposed in the White Paper still requiring further detailed consideration. This offers the considerable advantage there is yet time to influence the process and future developments, but also the challenge in assessment that many effects are not yet clear. Thus, central to our conclusions have necessarily been many expert judgements.... [Europe Economics, London]

Title: Capacity building for social dialogue in Estonia
Abstract
This paper analyses the capacity of Estonia?s social partners to effectively engage in social dialogue at various levels. The paper forms part of a wider, comparative project, managed by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Ireland) and the Work Life Development Programme (Sweden). It is aimed at helping social partners in the 10 new EU Member States and the three acceding and candidate countries (Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkey) to build their capacity for social dialogue with a view to anticipating and managing change. The report concentrates on studying the organisational, financial, and personnel capacities of the national, central organisations of employers and trade unions for anticipating and managing change, anticipating future developments and implementing outputs.[Author vide Copyright]

Title: EMCC case studies - Corporate social responsibility in managing the transition to a market economy: Eesti Põlevkivi Ltd
Abstract
Eesti Põlevkivi Ltd (EP) is a state-owned company, primarily involved in oil shale mining in the Ida-Virumaa region of Estonia. The company was established in 1920 and was, for many years, the largest employer in Estonia. It continues to have particular relevance for the Ida-Virumaa region as the largest employer, offering higher than average salaries for this part of Estonia and often employing entire 'family dynasties'. In 1999, EP had 7,034 employees. Today, as a result of restructuring, this number has been reduced to 3,500. [Author vide Copyright]
