Abstract
Das Ziel dieser Veröffentlichung ist es, vergleichbare Bildungsstatistiken und -indikatoren zu den Themenbereichen Schüler, Studenten, Lehrkräfte und Bildungsniveau der Bevölkerung für einunddreißig Staaten zur Verfügung zu stellen. In dieser Veröffentlichung sind erstmals die Daten der dreizehn Empfängerländer des PHARE-Programms sowie der fünfzehn Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union und der drei EFTA-Staaten Island, Liechtenstein und Norwegen. Sie enthält Daten zu den Bildungsausgaben bezogen auf das Haushaltsjahr 1996. Schwerpunkt ist die Darstellung des Schuljahres 1996/97, die für manche Variablen durch eine Zeitreihe von 1975/76 bis 1996/97 ergänzt wird. Die Indikatoren reichen vom Anteil der Bevölkerung, der sich in Bildung und Ausbildung befindet, bis zu den beliebtesten modernen Fremdsprachen im Schulunterricht und vom Frauenanteil bei den Studierenden im Tertiärbereich nach Fachrichtung bis zum Anteil der Universitätsstudenten, die im Ausland studieren. Einige dieser Indikatoren liegen auch für die EU-Regionen vor. Der Anhang von der elektronischen Version enthält demographische Daten einschließlich Bevölkerungsvorausschätzungen bis zum Jahr 2030.

Title: A guide to educational expenditure statistics
Abstract
Educational expenditure statistics being a very complex subject the guide to educational expenditure statistics has been created to satisfy the growing demand on qualified informations concerning educational expenditure statistics. This guide is limited to general and vocational education as it is defined in the data collection on education statistics that is administered jointly by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation Institute for Statistics (UNESCO / UIS), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Statistical Office of the European Union (EUROSTAT). It takes into account all changes related to educational expenditure caused by the 2005 revision of the UOE data collection.

Title: Task force report on adult education survey
Abstract
The Task Force on Adult Education Survey (TF AES) has been created at the request of the Directors of Social Statistics of the European Union with the mandate to reflect on the development of a harmonised reporting system on education of adults from the perspective of the individual which could take the form of a specific survey. The TF AES continued the work of the Eurostat Task Force on measuring lifelong learning (TF MLLL) which had produced its report in February 2001. According to its mandate the TF AES should assist Eurostat in exploring the feasibility and the requirements for launching an EU Adult Education Survey within the broader framework of the development of Education and Training Statistics. The definition of the survey subject and the way to approach it was the main focus of this work. The TF AES has produced its final report in April 2004.

Abstract
New technology and improved access to the internet have led to a proliferation of information and new opportunities in the field of education. This working paper addresses the enormous impact information and communication technology has had on education and training as well as the benefits, limitations and different components of the various types of e-learning. In particular, it highlights how e-learning is in the process of empowering the individual learner and reducing the teacher's traditional role as information gatekeeper. This report contains quantitative and qualitative data on the academic and professional careers of the European Schools' graduates and on the European Schools' curriculum. It is based primarily on the answers to an electronic survey from roughly 3,000 graduates. The study examines, among other things, which subjects former European Schools pupils tend to study at university and where they go, and in which sectors they later work. The results of the survey are analyzed taking into account the particularities of the European Schools' curriculum.
