Title: EWCs in the new Member States : Case study: Deutsche Telekom
Abstract
Deutsche Telekom is one of the four largest telecommunication companies in the world and a strong global player in this industry. This case study is based on interviews carried out in Slovakia and Hungary between March and June 2006 with both EWC members and management representatives. In addition, an interview was carried out with a representative of the Deutsche Telekom EWC Secretariat in Bonn, Germany. The Deutsche Telekom EWC was established in June 2004.[Author vide Copyright]

Title: EWCs in the new Member States : Case study: Unilever
Abstract
Unilever was formally created in 1930 with the merger of British soapmakers ?Lever Brothers? and Dutch margarine producers ?Margarine Unie?. Today, this Anglo-Dutch company owns many of the world?s best-known consumer brands in food, beverages, cleaning and personal care products. This case study is based on interviews carried out in the first half of 2006 in Germany, Slovakia (also covering the Czech Republic) and Poland with Unilever EWC members and management representatives (responsible for HR). In addition, an interview with a representative of the Unilever EWC Secretariat was carried out. The Unilever EWC was established in 1996 and is based on Dutch law.[Author vide Copyright]

Title: Employment initiatives for an ageing workforce in the EU15
Abstract
Effective action to improve the employment conditions of older workers involves government policies at different levels, the social partners and social dialogue, organisations and companies and, of course, older workers themselves. Within companies in the EU15, policies and practices designed to improve opportunities for older workers and to extend working life have developed significantly over the last decade. Title: EWCs in the new Member States : Case study: KBC Bank
Abstract
KBC Bank and Insurance Holding Company was established in 1998 following the merger of three Belgian financial institutions. This case study is based on interviews carried out in Poland and the Czech Republic between March and July 2006 with representatives of the KBC European Works Council. Additional information and background material was also delivered by the Secretary of the EWC of KBC at an interview in Belgium and in the context of the project?s expert workshop in Warsaw in June 2006. KBC has had a European Works Council (EWC) since 1996, when the original agreement was signed at the then existing Kredietbank, with amendments made in 1999 and 2004. ABB is a global company, based in Switzerland and working mainly in the field of energy and automation technology. This case study is based on interviews carried out in the Czech Republic and Poland between March and May 2006 with representatives of the ABB EWC Secretariat in Mannheim, Germany, a senior HR management representative in France (formerly responsible for HR in the Czech Republic) and the EWC members from Poland and the Czech Republic. This case study is based on interviews carried out in the Czech Republic and Slovakia between March and June 2006 with national members of the Volkswagen EWC in both countries, as well as with management representatives. Title: Industrial relations in EU Member States 2000 - 2004
Abstract
This report presents a comparison of national industrial relations systems in the EU25, exploring the differences between individual systems and their effects on the economy. The report is based on the more detailed findings of a research project entitled "Quality of industrial relations: Comparative industrial relations country profiles in the EU Member States", commissioned by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions. The report summarises findings from the country profiles of the industrial relations features observed among each of the 25 EU Member States, which were compiled as part of the aforementioned project. The data include facts and figures, links to sources, along with an overview of the main industrial relations features, actors, processes and outcomes.
