Title: Arbeitnehmerbeteiligung an Gewinn und Kapital: Überblick über Fragen und Befunde
Title (other): Employee participation in profit and ownership: A review of the issues and evidence | Participation aux bénéfices et
actionnariat salarié: Les éléments du débat
Abstract
Profit sharing and employee share ownership cover at least 17 million employees in the European Union. The paper reviews international research evidence on the effects of employee financial participation on productivity and employment, and the implications for policy. There is remarkable agreement across studies from more than 20 countries in Europe concerning several tens of thousands of enterprises that financial participation has a positive or neutral effect on productivity. The magnitude of the effect may depend on employee involvement and participation in enterprise governance at various levels. The paper also looks at tax concessions, stability and risk issues under employee share ownership, employee-owned co-operative enterprises, and connections with the pensions debate, social dialogue and other aspects of the employment relationship such as gender and ethnic discrimination.[European Parliament]

des relations industrielles
Abstract
In February 2002, the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO) completed its fifth year of recording and analysing key developments in industrial relations across the European Union and Norway. The emphasis of this study is on collective bargaining and dialogue between the social partners, rather than on labour law or government initiatives. This booklet focuses on five main themes: lifelong learning; equality, diversity and non-discrimination; health and safety at work; flexibility and the work-life balance; and social dialogue and worker involvement. Title: Negotiating collective agreements on employment and competitiveness
Abstract
This report describes and analyses agreements between the social partners on employment and competitiveness in 11 Member States of the European Union. It focuses on innovative collective agreements concluded at both sectoral and company levels which are used by the parties involved (sometimes with state backing) to ensure that aspects of employment and competitiveness play a central role in any settlement reached. These agreements have become known as PECs: pacts for employment and competitiveness. In terms of their content, they cover a wide range of mostly interlinked measures, which include more flexible wage structures, the reduction of working time and changes in work organisation, as well as measures associated with continuing vocational training. Title: Key themes in global industrial relations: Minimum wages and relocation of production
Abstract
With economic globalisation growing ever deeper and international competition intensifying, it is increasingly clear that Europe's industrial relations systems do not exist in isolation, and cannot be studied as such. This report examines two topical issues - minimum wages and the crossborder relocation of production - from the perspective of industrial relations. Drawing on comparative analysis from the European Industrial Relation Observatory (EIRO), it looks at the situation in the 25 EU Member States, in two 'developed' countries - Japan and the USA - and two 'developing' countries - Brazil and China. Title: Working time options over the life course: New work patterns and company strategies
Abstract
Profound socio-economic, demographic and cultural changes currently under way in Europe are modifying the way in which people organise their time and income over the life course. The ageing population, globalisation, the transition from a standard working organisation model to more diversified and individualised structures and changes in the gender division of labour - these are all shifting the boundaries between people's work and personal lives. At the same time, changes in the timing of entry into and exit from the labour market have considerably reduced the time devoted to paid work. [Dominique Anxo]

Title: Financial participation in the EU: a benchmarking study of Slovenia
Abstract
This report has two primary purposes. It aims to 'road test' the Foundation's financial participation indicators by applying them to a real life case, and to consider options for dealing with the lack of complete data. Slovenia was chosen as the pilot study. As much less has been written about financial participation in the new Member States (NMS) than in the former EU15, focusing on Slovenia provides an opportunity to widen the debate. [John McCartney]

Title: Financial participation: The role of governments and social partners
Abstract
Financial participation has been the focus of increasing attention over recent years. This report, which draws on research carried out in eight Member States (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and the United Kingdom), provides a comprehensive picture of the current situation regarding the state of financial participation. It examines in particular to what extent governments, trade union confederations and employer organisations influence the shape of financial participation measures within each country. The report is based on a series of national reports conducted by eight country teams during 2001-2003.[Author vide Copyright]

Title: Financial participation in the EU: Indicators for benchmarking
Abstract
This report is based on recent Foundation research into financial participation, incorporating the eight general principles outlined by the Commission in its framework Communication. It outlines the scale of financial participation across the European Union, highlights differences in national policies and pinpoints characteristics that could act as barriers to the widespread uptake of financial participation schemes. The overall objective is to develop a set of indicators to facilitate benchmarking of financial participation policies and practices across the EU. [Author vide Copyright]

Title: Minimum wages in Europe : Background paper
Abstract
This background paper from the European Foundation has been drafted to coincide with the European Parliament's hearing on 12 September 2007 in Brussels on the "Role of the minimum wage/minimum income for social inclusion in the EU". The focus of the paper is on minimum wage provisions in Europe; it represents a brief synthesis of relevant Foundation research, supplemented with OECD/Eurostat data where such data is more up to date. It aims to give, in summary fashion, an overview of developments in minimum wage/minimum income provision at Member State level. It also aims to outline the perspectives of the social partners and provide some pointers regarding current and emerging policy issues. [Author vide Copyright]

Title: The gender pay gap : Background paper
Abstract
Although collective agreements and minimum wage laws are in principle gender-neutral, women still end up earning less than men. This paper briefly explores some different facets of the ?gender pay gap? issue, based on data collected from two of the Foundation?s projects: the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO) report Pay developments (2005), and the fourth European Working Conditions Survey, published early in 2007.[Author vide Copyright]

Title: Wages : A working conditions and industrial relations perspective ; Background paper
Abstract
This paper looks at wages from two different angles: from the perspective of individual employees, discussed in conjunction with their working conditions, and from the perspective of the industrial relations system. After a brief overview of EU-level policy developments with a potential impact on national level pay determination, this report gives a comparative overview of the levels of collective wage setting and how they are set throughout Europe and goes on to report on reforms, changes or debates linked to these processes between the different actors at both the Member State and the European level in 2011 and 2012.[Christine Aumayr-Pintar, Jorge Cabrita, David Foden]

Title: Löhne in Europa im 21. Jahrhundert : Zusammenfassung
Title (other): Pay in Europe in the 21st century : executive summary | Rémunérations en Europe au XXIe siècle : synthèse
