Title: Integration of third-country migrants : Background paper
Abstract
This background paper, prepared for the European Parliament's public hearing on "The Integration of economic migrant workers" looks at the integration of migrants from countries outside the European Union as a two-way process. There is a need to balance the rights and obligations of both migrants and the receiving society. The receiving society should promote equal opportunities and non-discrimination for migrants in all key life domains, such as employment, education and housing. In return, incoming migrants should respect the fundamental values of the European Union and acquire a basic knowledge of the host society's language, history and institutions. Title: Entry-Exit Feasibility Study : Final Report
Abstract
This study aims at assessing the technical feasibility of the options selected from the results of the preparatory study to inform an impact assessment in relation to the creation of an automated Entry-Exit system at the external borders of the European Union (EU) and the introduction of a border crossing scheme for bona fide travellers (“Registered Traveller programme”). This Final Report analyses the existing situation, provides a thorough set of recommendations and a detailed discussion of the central architecture of an Automated Border Control system, complete with Entry-Exit and Registered Traveller management functionality. A transition plan for the implementation of such a system is also presented.[Author vide copyright]
