Title: The EU role in fighting transnational organised crime
Abstract
Transnational Organised Crime (TOC) has risen up in the international institutions agenda. The international communitys mobilisation against organised crime has led to an impressive elaboration of institutional responses to what has been presented as a global challenge. The EU JHA agenda has not been an exception, while constantly addressing the issue of the fight against TOC as one of its priorities since the middle of the 1990s. In order to understand the current state of the EU strategy against organised crime, this study examines the existing EU legislative framework and the various initiatives taken at the international level against TOC in order to put the EU strategy into a broader perspective. This includes taking a closer look at the European justice and police co-operation mechanisms (specifically the role and mandate of Europol and Eurojust), as well as reviewing the most recent developments in the EU strategy against organised crime.[European Parliament]

Title: Study on the implementation of the European Information Exchange Model (EIXM) for strengthening law enforcement
cooperation : Final Report
Abstract
Smooth and secure cross-border information exchanges between law enforcement authorities are essential in order to ensure a high level of security in the EU and tackle serious and organised crime, as well as other offences that require cross-border collaboration. In order to ensure timely access to accurate and up-to-date data for law enforcement authorities, a considerable number of EU instruments and systems have been put in place in recent years, which are also supplemented by international and bilateral arrangements. The purpose of the study was to provide a follow up to the Commission’s 2012 Communication on the European Information Exchange Model (EIXM Communication), to survey and assess activities carried out in Member States in this context as well as point to possible ways of further improvement. Abstract
This Final Report presents the outcome of the Thematic global evaluation of European Union support to Integrated Border Management and fight against Organised Crime. The evaluation was commissioned by the DG DEVCO Evaluation Unit and implemented between 2011 and early 2013. The purpose of the evaluation is to assess to what extent EU development assistance in the area of Integrated Border Management and fight against Organised Crime (IBM and OC) was relevant, effective, efficient and sustainable in providing expected impacts, along with EU added value. It also aims to analyse co-ordination and complementarity with other donors and actors, the coherence with relevant EU policies and partner governments’ priorities and activities as well as with international commitments in IBM and OC. The evaluation covers EU aid delivery over the period 2002-2010.The geographical scope of the evaluation covers all regions where EU co-operation was implemented, including the Enlargement countries, as these interventions are expected to provide interesting lessons for other regions.[Author vide copyright]
